Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project Delayed Until 2029, Says Minister
Imagine a super-fast train, like a bullet, going between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
It's taking longer than expected to finish.
The government planned to start the first part by 2026, but it's now looking like 2029 for the whole project.
A big reason for the delay was not being able to get the land needed in Maharashtra quickly.
Now, they are working on different parts of the project at the same time to speed things up.
They've already finished some important parts like bridges and foundations for stations.
This train will make travel much faster between the two cities!
Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train completion expected by December 2029, according to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The Gujarat section of the corridor between Vapi and Sabarmati is planned for completion by December 2027.
The project was initially planned to have its first section operational by 2026.
Delays were primarily caused by land acquisition setbacks in Maharashtra, impacting progress until 2021.
All necessary clearances and civil contracts have been awarded, with foundation work underway at multiple stations.
