Satyendar Jain Arrest Reignites Punjab Election Politics for AAP
Satyendar Jain is an AAP leader who helps organize elections in Punjab.
He was arrested in a case about alleged problems with Delhi Jal Board contracts.
Jain says the arrest happened because Punjab will soon have an election.
Other AAP leaders also say the arrest is politically motivated.
The BJP says the case is about investigating possible corruption.
A court sent Jain and several other accused people to judicial custody for 14 days.
Jain has been arrested before, when he was helping AAP campaign in Himachal Pradesh in 2022.
His arrest and Sandeep Pathak’s move to the BJP could make AAP’s Punjab election planning more difficult.
Former Delhi minister and AAP Punjab co-in-charge Satyendar Jain was arrested by Delhi’s Anti-Corruption Branch in an alleged Delhi Jal Board tendering case.
Jain said the arrest was political and linked to the upcoming Punjab Assembly election.
AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Bhagwant Mann also alleged that the arrest was intended to hurt AAP before the polls.
The BJP rejected the political-vendetta allegations and said investigators had established an alleged money trail in the case.
Jain’s custody adds pressure to AAP’s election organisation after strategist Sandeep Pathak moved to the BJP.
