US Pledges $3.6 Million Aid as Nepal Flood Crisis Deepens

Severe floods have caused major damage in Nepal.

The United States said it will send more than $3.6 million in emergency help.

Some of this help will provide food for up to 10,000 families for as long as three months.

Nepal also warned that the Bhote Koshi River was becoming louder and carrying more water.

People living downstream were told to be very careful and watch the river.

Officials said 675 people had died and 2,418 were still missing or unreachable.

Rescue teams have moved more than 7,500 people to safer places.

Nepal has sent thousands of security personnel and helicopters to help with rescues and relief.
