CAQM Admits No Research Behind Vehicle Ban in Delhi-NCR
Imagine some old cars that make the air dirty, like when you have a messy room!
The government said these cars, older than 10 years (diesel) and 15 years (petrol), can't get gas.
But, they didn't do any studies to see how much pollution these cars really cause.
The decision to ban these cars comes from what the courts said.
The ban was delayed because it's hard to do right away.
Many old cars are in Delhi and nearby areas.
The plan is to use cameras to catch the old cars that will roll out slowly.
CAQM admits to not conducting research on overage vehicle pollution.
The ban on overage vehicles in Delhi-NCR is based on court orders.
Enforcement of fuel ban on overage vehicles was postponed until October 31.
Delhi has 62 lakh overage vehicles, NCR has 44 lakh.
The fuel ban will extend to NCR districts with ANPR cameras.
