Arshad Warsi, Wife Banned for Pump-and-Dump Scheme
SEBI, India's market regulator, banned actor Arshad Warsi and his wife Maria Goretti, along with 57 others, from trading.
This happened because they were involved in a 'pump and dump' scheme with shares of Sadhna Broadcast.
People made fake YouTube videos to make the stock look good and convince people to buy it.
Then, the people behind the scheme sold their shares for a profit, leaving regular investors with losses.
The regulator found that this was a scam to trick investors.
Authorities have also imposed fines and ordered them to give back the money they gained illegally.
