Jharkhand Lowers Water Connection Fees, Offers Free Access for Poor
Imagine you need to get water at your home in Jharkhand.
Before, getting the water connection cost a lot, especially for bigger houses.
The government decided to make it cheaper.
Now, smaller homes pay less, and the poorest families get free connections.
This change was decided by a group of people in charge.
They looked at what other places did and decided to make things fairer.
This is because the water connection fees were some of the highest.
The new rules also clarified who is considered poor so that everyone knows who gets a free connection.
This helps make sure everyone, including those with less money, can easily get water at their homes.
Jharkhand reduces water connection fees for residential households.
Free water connections are extended to families below the poverty line (BPL).
The fee structure is revised: Rs 5,000 for homes up to 1,000 sq ft, Rs 7,000 for larger homes.
BPL status determined by the same criteria as the Mukhyamantri Gambhir Bimari Upchar Yojana.
The changes aim to make water access more equitable and affordable.
