CBI Court Orders Preservation of CCTV Footage in Punjab DIG Graft Case
Imagine there's a police officer, a DIG named Bhullar, who is accused of taking bribes.
A special investigator, the CBI, caught a man named Sharda, who is accused of being the middleman, accepting some money.
Because this is a very important and sensitive case, a judge ordered that the jail where Sharda is being held must save all the videos of who visits him and keep records of those visits.
This is to make sure no one tries to influence the investigation.
Sharda didn't have a lawyer at his court hearing, so the judge said he needs to get one, or he'll be given a lawyer to help him.
The judge also wants to make sure everything is kept safe and private as the investigation continues.
The middleman, Sharda, was a former hockey player who now helps people with tricky problems using his connections.
A CBI court in Chandigarh has ordered the preservation of CCTV footage and visitor records for Kirshanu Sharda, an accused in a graft case involving DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar.
The court directed the Superintendent of Model Jail, Burail, to maintain these records to ensure the secrecy of the ongoing sensitive investigation.
Kirshanu Sharda, a former hockey player, allegedly acted as a 'fixer' and middleman in an Rs 8 lakh bribery case orchestrated by DIG Bhullar.
Sharda was apprehended by CBI while accepting a Rs 1 lakh token bribe, following a WhatsApp conversation with Bhullar regarding the bribe amount.
During the court hearing, Kirshanu Sharda did not have legal representation, leading the court to order his physical appearance on October 29, 2025, and offering legal aid if he fails to engage a counsel.
