IIIT-Delhi Develops AI for Space Situational Awareness
Imagine space is like a super busy highway, with lots of satellites and space junk zipping around.
Right now, it's hard to keep track of everything.
IIIT-Delhi is building a smart system, like a traffic controller, using AI to watch what's up there.
It'll use AI to learn about what's happening, and predict when things might crash.
The current systems are expensive and need a lot of human help, which can be slow.
This new AI system will be faster and more reliable.
This initiative aims to make space safer for everyone.
IIIT-Delhi is collaborating with ISRO and industry to build an AI-driven Space Situational Awareness (SSA) system.
The new system aims to track and predict the behavior of objects in space.
Current SSA systems face challenges, including high costs and reliance on human input.
AI will be used for tasks such as sensor management and threat detection to speed up decision-making.
The project is part of the Infosys Centre for Artificial Intelligence (CAI) at IIIT-Delhi.
