Ukraine Peace Talks Expand Into Proposed $20 Billion Lukoil Deal

Lukoil is a large Russian energy company.

It may sell some of its businesses outside Russia, including oil fields, refineries and petrol stations.

The company valued those assets at about $20 billion.

Putin reportedly brought up the sale with US negotiators during a meeting in September.

An investor group led by Todd Boehly is the leading bidder, and other investors may also take part.

A US government agency is expected to invest too.

The deal has not been approved and still needs permission from the US and Russian governments.

Some people have raised questions because potential buyers have business links to Trump’s negotiators, though the article says there is no indication those negotiators would personally profit.
