Germany's Merz to propose Bilger as new transport minister

Germany's Chancellor Friedrich Merz is planning to replace the current transport minister, Patrick Schnieder, with Steffen Bilger.

Schnieder, who is part of the conservative party, has asked to be sacked because he finds the current situation undignified and unworkable.

Merz wants to make this change to bring new energy to the government, which has been unpopular lately.

This is all part of a bigger plan to reshuffle the cabinet.
