Servier India Launches Affordable Cancer Biomarker Testing Initiative
Imagine two types of serious cancers, a blood cancer called AML and a rare bile duct cancer called CCA.
Sometimes, to treat these cancers best, doctors need to do special tests to understand the exact type of cancer.
These tests used to be very expensive and hard to get for many people in India, especially those living outside big cities.
Now, a company called Servier India is working with two other labs, MedGenome and Strand Life Sciences, to make these tests much cheaper.
For government hospitals, tests for specific changes (mutations) in IDH1 and IDH2 genes will even be free.
This is part of a bigger program called 'Servier Care' to help patients get the right diagnosis and treatment, no matter where they live or how much money they have.
The goal is to help doctors make better treatment choices and help patients get better.
Servier India has partnered with MedGenome and Strand Life Sciences to launch a biomarker testing initiative for AML and CCA.
The initiative offers subsidized rates for biomarker tests, with IDH1 and IDH2 mutation testing provided free of cost to the government sector.
The aim is to improve access to molecular diagnostics for cancer patients across India, particularly in underserved areas.
Existing costs for AML testing can range from Rs 20,000-50,000 and for CCA from Rs 70,000-3 Lakh, with costs expected to reduce by 60-75% for private facilities.
This effort is part of Servier India's 'Servier Care' patient-support program, focusing on equitable access to precision oncology.

Servier India
Servier India is launching the initiative with subsidized rates and free testing for IDH1/IDH2 mutations in the government sector to make advanced diagnostics more accessible and affordable, aiming to reduce costs by 60-75%.
General Public/Patients
Even with subsidies, the full cost of AML testing can range from Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000, and CCA testing from Rs 70,000 to Rs 3 Lakh, indicating that while costs are reduced, they may still be significant for many patients.
