India Implements Stricter Immigration Rules for Foreigners
The Indian government is tightening its rules about who can come into the country and stay.
Under a new law, foreigners with serious criminal records like terrorism or rape won't be allowed in.
They will also need permission to enter protected areas, and people from Afghanistan, China, and Pakistan are not permitted.
People applying for visas will have to provide fingerprints.
If foreigners are caught in India illegally, they will be held in detention centers until they can be sent back to their home countries.
New immigration rules restrict entry for foreigners with criminal convictions.
Foreigners may be refused entry for anti-national activities, espionage, or other serious crimes.
Foreigners require permits for protected or restricted areas, with exceptions for some nationalities.
State governments will establish holding centers for illegal immigrants.
Biometric data will be collected from visa applicants and OCI cardholders.
