Madhya Pradesh Moves Toward Uniform Civil Code

The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, is pushing for a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) that will apply to everyone in the state, regardless of religion.

This code will make it mandatory to register marriages and live-in relationships.

It will also treat remarriage while a spouse is alive as a criminal offense.

The government believes this will ensure equal rights for all, especially women.

However, the opposition party thinks the government is using this to distract from other important issues like unemployment and women's safety.

The final draft of the UCC will be discussed in a cabinet meeting and then presented in the state assembly.
