African World Cup 2027 Hosts Play Historic Tri-Series in Namibia
Three countries in Africa — South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia — are going to play cricket against each other in a special tournament.
A tournament with three teams is called a tri-series.
The games will begin on August 28 in Windhoek, a city in Namibia.
A final match between the two best teams will be played on September 6.
The main goal is to get ready for a much bigger tournament called the Cricket World Cup in 2027.
That World Cup will be played in all three countries in October and November.
It is extra special because it is the first time in 24 years the World Cup will be held in Africa.
It is also the first time Namibia will host World Cup matches.
The tri-series will also help start a new African competition called the Africa Cup.
This is a big step for cricket in Africa!
The three hosts of the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2027 — South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia — will play a historic T20I tri-series in Windhoek, Namibia.
The series runs from August 28 to September 6, with a final between the top two teams on September 6.
Officials say the series builds excitement and gives match practice ahead of the World Cup, which returns to Africa after 24 years.
The tri-series also lays the foundation for the Africa Cup, a new continental tournament expected to begin in 2027.
The 2027 ODI World Cup will be held in October and November across the three countries, with Namibia hosting senior ICC World Cup matches for the first time.
