Thailand Floods Affect 580,000 Homes and Kill Eight

Heavy rain has caused serious flooding in Thailand.

Bangkok was one of the hardest-hit places.

About 320 millimetres of rain fell in only a few days, overwhelming the city’s drains.

Many streets and neighborhoods became covered with water.

More than 580,000 homes across Thailand have been affected, and at least eight people have died.

Thousands of Bangkok residents moved into evacuation centres, while others cannot yet leave their homes.

Some shopkeepers used floating boxes and platforms to sell food and other necessities.

Officials also told people in Rayong province to evacuate because reservoirs were too full.
