NAAC Revises Grades of 53 HEIs, Three Get A++
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in India has changed the grades of 53 colleges and universities after they asked for a review.
Out of these, 28 got a grade of A or higher, with three getting the top grade of A++.
The NAAC is also introducing new rules for grading schools, which will include a basic check followed by more detailed evaluations.
Schools that are currently accredited will get a short extension if their accreditation is about to expire.
The grades are based on how well the schools do in different areas, and the results are made public on the schools' websites.
This change is part of efforts to make sure schools in India are of good quality and are held accountable.
NAAC revised the accreditation grades of 53 higher education institutions (HEIs) following appeals and reassessment.
28 institutions secured Grade A and above, with three receiving the top A++ grade.
NAAC introduced a new framework: Basic Binary Accreditation followed by Maturity Based Graded Levels (MBGL) accreditation.
Institutions with expiring accreditation will receive a one-time extension of up to three months.
The grading system is based on Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA), with A++ requiring a CGPA of 3.51 and above.
