President Murmu hosts 80th Independence Day reception; Modi, Gor attend
Every year on August 15, India celebrates the day it became a free country.
This year was special because it was the 80th Independence Day.
The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, threw a big party called the 'At Home' reception.
It took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President's official home.
Many important people came, like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Vice President.
People from the army, sports, movies and art were also invited.
Even the American Ambassador to India attended and said he was happy to celebrate.
Earlier that day, the President placed a tribute at the National War Memorial to remember fallen soldiers.
The United States also sent birthday wishes to India.
They said the friendship between the two countries is stronger than ever.
President Droupadi Murmu hosted the traditional 'At Home' Reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan on August 15 to mark India's 80th Independence Day.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President C P Radhakrishnan, former President Ram Nath Kovind, Union Ministers, diplomats and eminent personalities attended the event.
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor attended the reception and posted about the celebrations on X, saying it was a pleasure to join.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio congratulated India, calling the US-India relationship 'stronger than ever' and highlighting the bond between Presidents Trump and Modi.
Earlier in the day, President Murmu and top military chiefs paid homage to fallen heroes at the National War Memorial.
