Bollywood Strugglers Find New Platform in Backstage
In Mumbai, a city full of dreams and rejections, a new platform called 'Backstage with Danish Husain' is giving struggling actors a chance to share their stories.
On 20 December, eight artists performed their semi-autobiographical pieces in a dimly lit studio.
They talked about their struggles, hopes, and the harsh realities of trying to make it in Bollywood.
The event, organized by poet and theatre director Danish Husain, aims to create a safe space for artists to express themselves.
Tickets cost Rs 500, and the money goes to support the performers.
The next edition is scheduled for 31 January.
This initiative helps artists like Puneet Khanna, who shared his experiences of sleeping on the streets and facing rejections, and Neelam Singh, who talked about the challenges of being a thin, dusky-skinned woman in the industry.
The event is a mix of open mic and rehearsed performances, providing a peek into the lives of these artists.
Backstage with Danish Husain is a monthly event in Mumbai showcasing the struggles of aspiring Bollywood actors.
