Delhi SIR Notices Flag Jaishankar, Army Chief and Others

The Election Commission is checking voter records in the New Delhi Assembly constituency.

This process is called a Special Intensive Revision, or SIR.

Several well-known people received notices during the check.

S Jaishankar and his wife could not be matched to voter records from a 2002 revision.

Former Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi and his wife received similar notices.

Some members of the Sood family were also placed in this category.

Sheba Britas had a mismatch involving her own name, while her son Anand had a mismatch involving a parent’s name.

A notice means the records need checking and does not by itself mean that someone is ineligible to vote.
