Senators raise alarm over USS Abraham Lincoln crew conditions

An aircraft carrier is a huge ship that carries airplanes, and the USS Abraham Lincoln is one of these big ships.

It has been at sea for more than eight and a half months, which is a very long time.

About 5,000 sailors live and work on the ship.

Some senators heard that the sailors are not doing well, with problems like not enough supplies, dirty water, broken plumbing, and mail not arriving.

The senators are worried that the sailors are tired and stressed.

The Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, said these reports are not true and that the Navy takes good care of its sailors.

The carrier has been very busy because of a war with Iran, and it also helped stop ships from going to Iranian ports.

During the fighting, Iran shot hundreds of missiles and drones at the carrier, but all of them were shot down.

Help is on the way: another big carrier, the USS George Washington, is going to the Middle East so the Lincoln crew can finally come home.
