Odisha Floods Continue in Six Districts; Improvement Expected Soon

Rain has caused rivers in Odisha, India, to rise and flood the land.

Six districts are affected by the floodwater.

Many villages are underwater or cut off from roads.

Rescuers have moved about 42,000 people to safe shelters.

The shelters have clean water, toilets, lights, and doctors.

There are also special arrangements for children, pregnant women, older people, and people with disabilities.

Special rescue teams with boats and equipment are helping.

The government says the flood situation has already improved in about half of the affected places.

The water is expected to go down by Saturday afternoon in most areas.

No major injuries or deaths have been reported so far.
