Switzerland and China Conclude Deal Giving Swiss Exports Tariff-Free Access

Switzerland and China have finished negotiating an updated trade agreement.

The deal would remove Chinese import taxes from almost all Swiss exports.

Products such as watches, medicines, and precision instruments would enter China duty-free.

Swiss companies and investors would also receive better access to the Chinese market.

The agreement updates a trade deal that began in 2014.

It adds rules about digital trade, services, competition, workers’ rights, and the environment.

China also agreed to mention the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in the agreement.

The countries plan to sign it before the end of 2026, but each side must approve it first.
