West Bengal Unaware of Common Board Proposal for Classes 10, 12
The government is talking about having the same exam board for 10th and 12th grade students in some states.
This is because these states had a lot of students who didn't pass their exams last year.
The government wants things to be simpler for schools.
However, the education minister in West Bengal, a state that is included in the recommendation, said they haven't heard anything official about this.
He also said students in West Bengal usually do well on their exams.
The Ministry of Education suggested a common board for classes 10 and 12 in seven states, including West Bengal.
West Bengal Education Minister Bratya Basu stated the state has not received official communication regarding the recommendation.
Basu asserted that West Bengal students perform well in board exams.
The recommendation followed an analysis showing these states accounted for 66% of student failures last year.
The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education oversee exams.
