Festive Season Expected to Lift India Passenger Vehicle Sales

Festive Season Expected to Lift India Passenger Vehicle Sales

India’s automobile dealers expect people to buy many more passenger vehicles during the next three months.

They think sales could rise by 15% to 20% because of festivals, new models and good vehicle availability.

August passenger vehicle sales were the best ever recorded for that month.

Buyers in rural areas increased their purchases faster than buyers in cities.

Cars using CNG, LPG, hybrid technology or electricity together sold more than petrol-based vehicles in August.

Dealers say changing fuel preferences are linked partly to geopolitical issues and more available models.

Two-wheeler and commercial vehicle sales also increased compared with a year earlier.

However, dealers have more vehicles in stock than they consider comfortable.

They expect festive demand to reduce that inventory gradually.
