Delhi High Court: DIAL Retains Waste Management Control in Aerocity
Imagine the airport has its own small city called Aerocity.
The city has a problem with trash and needs a waste management plan.
The local government (MCD) wanted to handle the trash, but the company that runs the airport (DIAL) said it's already doing that.
The High Court agreed with DIAL, saying it's in charge of everything in Aerocity, including taking care of the garbage.
They also said that the airport has been managing the trash since 2007.
So, the MCD can't take over trash collection in that part of the airport.
The Delhi High Court ruled DIAL is the exclusive custodian of Aerocity.
The ruling stemmed from a dispute over an MCD waste management tender.
The court rejected MCD's claim of sole authority over waste management in Delhi.
Aerocity is part of IGIA’s commercial zone, according to a 2016 Master Plan.
DIAL has managed solid waste at the Airport Site since 2007.
