Kenny Bednarek Visits Kolkata as Ambassador
Kenny Bednarek, a famous runner from the USA, is visiting Kolkata for the first time.
He has won many medals in big races like the Olympics.
He talked about his plans for the Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata 2025 event, his rivalry with another runner named Noah Lyles, and his future goals.
He also mentioned his Indian partner, a golfer named Sharmila Nicollet, and his love for Indian culture.
Kenny hopes to break some world records and even run marathons when he retires.
He believes the sport is getting cleaner and is excited to help make track and field bigger in India.
Kenny Bednarek, a US sprinter and silver medallist in the 200m at the 2024 Paris Olympics and 2020 Tokyo Olympics, is visiting Kolkata for the first time as the international event ambassador for the Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata 2025.
Bednarek aims to break Usain Bolt's 200m world record and is steadily improving his 100m performance, targeting a time of 9.6 seconds in the next few years.
He has a competitive rivalry with Noah Lyles, another top sprinter, and they had a heated moment during the US Athletics Championship earlier this year.
Bednarek's partner, golfer Sharmila Nicollet, has introduced him to Indian culture, and he plans to visit India annually to experience more of it and help promote track and field in the country.
After retiring, Bednarek plans to participate in marathons to challenge himself, as he has a background in cross-country running.
