India Plans Massive Indus River Projects for North Ahead of Elections
India is working on a big plan to bring more water to different parts of Northern India.
This plan is happening because India paused a water-sharing deal with Pakistan.
The main part of the plan involves building a tunnel to connect two rivers and a canal to move the water.
The government wants to make sure people have enough water and to help with any changes in the climate.
The whole project is expected to be finished by 2028.
India is undertaking large-scale projects to manage Indus River water.
A 14-km tunnel connecting the Indus and Beas rivers is planned.
The Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan has been suspended.
Canals are being planned to deliver water to Northern Indian states.
The project is linked to both national security and upcoming elections.
