Opposition Marches to Jantar Mantar Over Electoral Roll Revision

Opposition Marches to Jantar Mantar Over Electoral Roll Revision

Opposition leaders in Delhi are protesting how voter lists are being updated.

They say there may be problems with the process and want to speak with the Election Commission.

They also want Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to resign.

On Wednesday, they marched toward Jantar Mantar, and police detained Rahul Gandhi and others.

Police said protests there were not allowed without prior approval.

The day before, police had stopped another march and detained several leaders after a sit-in.

Police later registered a case based on a complaint about protesters entering a building without permission.

The Opposition also discussed writing to the election chief to request a meeting.
