Kerala Government Increases Dearness Allowance for Teaching Staff and Pensioners
The government of Kerala has decided to give more money to its teachers and retired people.
For teachers working with UGC and AICTE, their extra allowance, called Dearness Allowance, is going up.
Some will see it increase from 42% to 46%, and others from 221% to 230%, depending on when their pay scale was set.
Retired teachers and their families will also get more money, called Dearness Relief, with similar percentage increases.
This extra money for teachers will start with their salary in October 2025.
The extra money for pensioners will start with their pension in November 2025.
The government also recently increased the allowance for regular state government employees and pensioners by 4%, from 18% to 22%.
Some organizations need to check if they have enough money to pay the increased allowance and might need special permission.

Dearness Relief (DR) for UGC pensioners and family pensioners has also been enhanced.
