Dengue and Malaria Cases Nearly Triple in Delhi

Dengue and Malaria Cases Nearly Triple in Delhi

Delhi has seen many more dengue and malaria cases in September than earlier in the year.

Dengue is now reported in 597 people, while malaria is reported in 214 people.

Mosquitoes can multiply in water that is left standing after the rains.

Doctors say fever in children should be watched carefully because these illnesses can look like a normal viral infection.

Parents should seek medical help if a child has serious vomiting, stomach pain, unusual sleepiness, breathing trouble, bleeding or very little urine.

A child feeling better after a fever falls does not always mean the illness is over.

Doctors also advise good hydration and avoiding aspirin or ibuprofen unless a doctor recommends them.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi is checking homes and taking action against mosquito-breeding conditions.
