Indian Navy Unveils Crest of New Indigenous Anti-Submarine Warfare Ship 'Mahe'
India's Navy is getting a new ship called INS Mahe.
It's the very first of its kind that India is building mostly by itself.
This is part of a plan called 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat,' which means India wants to make more of its own military stuff.
The INS Mahe is designed to be good at finding and stopping enemy submarines close to the shore.
It's small and quick, perfect for shallow waters.
The ship's special symbol, called a crest, shows a flexible sword from an ancient Indian martial art.
This sword represents how fast and precise the ship is.
The waves on the crest show how big India's ocean area is and that the Navy is always ready to protect it.
The ship will be officially added to the Navy in Mumbai.
The Indian Navy has unveiled the crest of INS Mahe, the lead ship of the new Mahe-class Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC).
INS Mahe is scheduled to be commissioned on November 24, 2025, at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai.
The vessel boasts over 80% indigenous content, underscoring India's 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiative in naval shipbuilding.
Designed for littoral warfare, the ship is equipped to detect and neutralize hostile submarines operating near the coast.
The ship's crest features an 'Urumi', a flexible sword associated with Kalaripayattu, symbolizing agility, precision, and the Navy's readiness to protect India's maritime domain.
