US Army Leadership Vacuum Follows Hegseth’s Senior Officer Dismissals

The United States Army does not currently have a permanently confirmed chief.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth removed Gen.

Randy George from that job in April.

Several other senior Army officers have also left their positions.

Gen.

Christopher LaNeve is temporarily doing two important jobs at once.

His Senate confirmation has been delayed because some lawmakers are unhappy with Hegseth’s personnel decisions and lack of transparency.

The Army is also dealing with missile and drone attacks in the Middle East.

Officials say scarce Patriot missiles are being used to protect American forces.

Army officials say the service is still carrying out its missions and preparing for future threats.
