Tirupati Launches City of Tanks Water Resilience Project

Tirupati Launches City of Tanks Water Resilience Project

Tirupati wants to improve how it stores and manages water.

Officials have started a project called the ‘City of Tanks.’

The plan would connect about 34 tanks so water can move through them in a chain.

Workers would strengthen the banks around the tanks.

The project would also help manage sewage, rainwater and floods.

Some areas near Avilala and Anasagaram tanks may become tourism and recreation centres.

Officials are preparing a detailed plan for the work.

They are also discussing a large loan with Germany’s KfW bank.

The first stage is expected to take about four years.
