Seven Arrested for Hijacking Fish Truck in Manipur
In Manipur, police arrested seven people, including four members of a banned group called UNLF(P), for stealing a truck full of fish.
The truck was taken from a road in Imphal West district.
The police also found and took away two other trucks used to move the fish.
The UNLF(P) group had signed a peace agreement with the government last year, but some of its members are still being caught for doing bad things.
On the same day, police found and safely removed 16 bombs in another part of Manipur.
This was not related to the fish truck incident.
Seven people, including four UNLF(P) militants, were arrested for hijacking a truck loaded with iced fish in Imphal West district.
The arrested militants were identified as Borish Sagolsem, Herojit Sharma, Asem Amar Meitei, and Md Salman Khan.
The hijacked truck and two tipper trucks used to shift the fish were seized by the police.
UNLF(P) signed a peace pact with the Centre in 2023, but members continue to be arrested for extortion and illegal activities.
In an unrelated operation, 16 IEDs were seized and defused in Kangvai area, Churachandpur district.
