NDMC Opens Community Halls as Night Shelters

NDMC Opens Community Halls as Night Shelters

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has opened its community halls and banquet halls as night shelters for relatives and attendants of patients visiting major government hospitals in Delhi.

This initiative is in response to the cold weather and aims to provide a safe place for people to sleep.

The shelters are located near AIIMS, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, and Lady Hardinge Hospital.

The NDMC is providing space, water, and electricity, while the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) is supplying beds and other essential items.

A dedicated team is overseeing the daily operations to ensure that the occupants do not face any difficulties.

The shelters will remain open until March 15, 2024, depending on the availability of community halls.

The aim is to protect vulnerable people from the cold and rain and ensure they are not forced to sleep in the open.
