NCBC Hears Demand for Inclusion of 7 Assam Communities in OBC List
The head of a special group called the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) had a meeting in Guwahati.
At this meeting, people from seven communities in Assam asked to be included in a special list called the Other Backward Classes (OBC) list at the national level.
These communities are already in the state's OBC list, and the NCBC is checking some rules and documents before they can be added to the national list.
The Assam government also wants these communities to be included.
The NCBC chairman said they will do this soon.
They also talked about making sure everyone is treated fairly and helping all communities grow together.
There was also a discussion about two other communities, Motok and Moran, who said they are different tribes.
NCBC Chairman Hansraj Gangaram Ahir held a public hearing in Guwahati on November 27.
Representatives of seven Assam communities demanded inclusion in the central OBC list.
