Swiggy Board Approves 49.5% Foreign Ownership Cap
Swiggy, a food delivery and quick commerce company, has decided to limit foreign ownership to 49.5% of its total shares.
This change is necessary for Swiggy to be recognized as an Indian-owned and controlled company (IOCC).
Being an IOCC will allow Swiggy to directly own and sell inventory through its quick commerce brand, Instamart.
This move is expected to improve the company's profits and give it better control over its supply chain.
The decision will be put to a vote by shareholders at the company's annual general meeting on August 18.
Swiggy's board has also approved changes to the company's rules to align with Indian laws and to reclassify some of its shares, subject to shareholder approval.
