India's tribunals face massive backlog of 5.24 lakh cases
India has special courts called tribunals that are supposed to solve cases quickly.
But right now, there are over 5.24 lakh cases waiting to be decided.
The biggest problem is that there aren't enough people working in these tribunals.
About one in every five jobs in these courts is empty, which means cases are piling up and taking much longer to solve.
The government is trying to fix this by hiring more people and using technology like online courts.
They are also giving priority to older people and training their workers.
But even with these efforts, there are still a lot of cases waiting, which is making it hard for people to get justice quickly.
India's special tribunals have a backlog of over 5.24 lakh cases.
Debt recovery tribunals have the largest backlog with about 2.5 lakh cases.
Shortage of staff is a major issue, with 93 out of 518 tribunal posts vacant.
The Law Ministry is working to fill vacancies and improve efficiency.
Tribunals are adopting new methods like e-courts and hybrid hearings to speed up work.
