Jail Warder Suspended After Undertrial Prisoner Dies by Suicide

A head jail warder in Sitapur District Jail was suspended after an undertrial prisoner, Ramdas, died by suicide.

The incident happened on June 4 inside a high-security barrack.

Ramdas, 52, was in jail since March 16 for allegedly murdering his son.

The jail superintendent recommended action against the warder for negligence during his shift.

The prisoner was last seen during his morning routine and was found hanging around 7 am.

A post-mortem confirmed the cause of death as hanging, with no signs of assault.

A judicial probe has been requested to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.
