MSU Faculty Salary Revision: Rs 1,500 Hike Sparks Discontent
MS University (MSU) in Vadodara increased the salaries of temporary teachers, but the raise was small.
Teachers are unhappy because they got bigger raises before and the new pay is much less than what the government suggests for people with similar jobs.
They say this makes it harder for them to get permanent jobs and advance their careers because their experience and pay don't match the standards.
MSU revised salaries for temporary assistant professors, lecturers, teaching assistants, and contractual staff.
The recent pay increase is Rs 1,500 per month, unlike previous raises of Rs 5,000.
Teachers without a PhD and experience will now get Rs 41,500 per month.
Teachers with PhDs and experience will receive up to Rs 61,500 per month.
Temporary staff are concerned about the UGC guidelines and its effect on future job prospects.
