Uttar Pradesh to Challenge High Court’s Akriti Detention Ruling

Uttar Pradesh to Challenge High Court’s Akriti Detention Ruling

The Uttar Pradesh government wants India’s top court to review a decision about Akriti Chaudhary’s detention.

Akriti is a Delhi University student.

She was detained under a national security law after worker protests in Noida and Greater Noida.

Police said she helped encourage the protesting crowd.

The protests involved damage to public property and injuries.

The Allahabad High Court later cancelled the detention order.

It said the district magistrate had not properly considered the case.

The high court also ordered ₹5 lakh compensation for Akriti, and the government now plans to challenge that ruling.
