Trump Pauses Iran Strike, Announces Talks for Monday
President Donald Trump said the United States will not attack Iran right now.
He told reporters that talks with Iran will start on Monday.
Trump thinks a deal about the Strait of Hormuz, a waterway that ships use, is already in place.
He also says a separate deal about Iran’s nuclear program will follow.
Some Iranian news says no deal exists and that Iran’s forces are ready for war.
The pause comes after the U.S. and Israel hit Iran in February, and it has made oil prices go up and down.
President Donald Trump announced a pause on planned military strikes against Iran and said negotiations would begin Monday afternoon.
Trump claimed an agreement on the Strait of Hormuz had already been reached and that a separate deal on Iran’s nuclear program would follow.
Gulf allies—including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Oman—urged Washington to suspend the attack, citing a potential deal.
Iranian state media and officials denied that a deal existed, calling Trump’s statements a lie and stating Iran’s forces remain on high alert.
The pause follows months of escalating tensions after U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran in February, with global oil prices affected.
