Odisha Sees Rise in Rooftop Solar Installations
In Odisha, many people are installing solar panels on their roofs to save money on electricity.
Two special programs, the ULA Model and the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, are helping them do this.
Under the ULA Model, 142 people have installed solar systems, and 44 of them didn't have to pay any electricity bills in November 2025.
The PM Surya Ghar program has even more participants, with 7,691 people installing solar systems, and 2,617 of them also had zero electricity bills in November 2025.
The solar systems are affordable, with the company covering most of the cost.
The company also provides long warranties on the equipment, making it a reliable choice for many households.
TPWODL has recorded a significant rise in rooftop solar installations under the ULA Model and PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
142 consumers have installed one-kilowatt rooftop solar systems under the ULA Model, with 44 achieving zero electricity bills in November 2025.
7,691 consumers have installed rooftop solar systems under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, with 2,617 achieving zero electricity bills in November 2025.
The ULA Model makes solar installations affordable, with consumers paying only Rs 8,747 for a 1 kW system, which typically costs between Rs 65,000 and Rs 75,000.
TPWODL provides a 5-year warranty on machinery and a 25-year warranty on solar panels, ensuring long-term reliability.
