NHAI Deploys Network Survey Vehicles to Monitor National Highways
Imagine a special car that's like a super-scanner for our roads.
The National Highway Authority of India is sending these 'Network Survey Vehicles' to check on over 20,000 kilometers of our highways.
These vehicles have lots of cool gadgets like cameras and lasers to see exactly how good or bad the road is.
They can even spot cracks and bumps automatically!
All the information they gather helps the NHAI decide where to fix the roads, plan for new ones, and make sure everything is managed well.
This is important because if roads aren't maintained, it can lead to accidents.
The NHAI is also using technology like FASTag for paying tolls easily and a system called Datalake to keep all road information in one place.
NHAI is deploying Network Survey Vehicles (NSVs) across 23 states to cover 20,933 km of National Highways.
NSVs are equipped with sensors like Laser, GPS, and high-resolution cameras to collect detailed road condition data.
The collected data will be used for pavement maintenance, asset management, and infrastructure planning.
Surveys will be conducted before project commencement and at six-month intervals, with data uploaded to the Road Asset Management System (RAMS).
NHAI is also using FASTag for electronic toll collection and has developed a 'Datalake' for comprehensive road network management.
