Chhattisgarh to Establish Jungle Warfare College in Maoist Den
The government is planning to build a special training center in the Karregutta hills, a place that used to be controlled by Maoist rebels.
This center will be a Jungle Warfare College where security forces will learn how to fight in difficult terrain and against terrorists.
The first such college was established in 2004 in Kanker.
The location of the new college is significant because the area was recently cleared of Maoists after a long operation.
The government wants to make sure the area stays safe and that security forces are well-trained.
The Central and State governments will collaborate on the construction of the facility.
The establishment of the college is meant to stop extremists from using the area as a base and to further improve security.
The Karregutta hills, a former Maoist stronghold, will host Chhattisgarh's second Jungle Warfare College.
The Union home ministry has approved the establishment of the counter-terrorism training institution.
The first Counter Terrorism and Jungle Warfare College (CTJWC) was established in 2004 in Kanker.
The facility's construction will be handled by the Central government, while the state provides infrastructure.
The area was the site of a major anti-Maoist operation, resulting in significant losses for the Maoists.
