Bengal BJP Relieves Six Ministers in Major Organisational Rejig
The Bengal BJP has changed many jobs inside its state party organization.
Six ministers were removed from party posts because the party wants one person to hold only one main position.
This allows the ministers to focus on their government responsibilities.
Anjana Basu is now leading the party’s women’s wing.
Amit Samanta is taking charge of the youth wing.
Locket Chatterjee and Soumitra Khan were made state general secretaries.
Several district and other wing leaders were also replaced.
The changes come before municipal elections that may be held in late November.
The Bengal BJP removed six ministers from organisational posts under its “one individual, one post” principle.
Tapas Roy, Jagannath Chattopadhyay, Agnimitra Paul and Dipak Burman lost state vice-president roles, while Shankar Ghosh and Indranil Khan were also relieved.
Actor-politician Anjana Basu was appointed state president of the BJP Mahila Morcha, replacing Phalguni Patra.
Amit Samanta replaced Indranil Khan as BJP Yuva Morcha president, while Locket Chatterjee and Soumitra Khan became state general secretaries.
The reshuffle includes new district presidents, morcha leaders and divisional convenors ahead of expected municipal elections.
