PFRDA Expands NPS Investment Options
The National Pension System (NPS) in India has grown a lot in the last ten years, and now the people in charge, called PFRDA, have made some big changes.
They want NPS to invest in more things like real estate, gold, and special funds.
This could make more money for people saving for retirement, but it also adds more risk.
Some of these new investments are safer, like real estate bonds, but others, like bonds from private companies, can be risky.
The PFRDA is trying to balance giving more options and keeping things safe.
They also want to make sure people understand these changes so they can make good choices for their future.
PFRDA has expanded NPS investment options to include REITs, InvITs, gold/silver funds, and AIFs.
Corporate bond allocations now include bonds from REITs, InvITs, asset-backed securities, municipal bonds, AT-1 bonds, and debt-oriented AIFs.
Equity allocations have been expanded to include the top 250 stocks, REITs, AIFs, gold/silver ETFs, IPOs, and OFS.
Some new investment options carry higher risks, such as asset-backed securities, municipal bonds, and debt-oriented AIFs.
PFRDA must balance expanding investment opportunities with maintaining the simplicity and safety of the NPS for subscribers.
