Canada and India Disagree on Deportation Numbers
Canada and India have different numbers for how many Indian people were sent back from Canada in 2025.
Canada says 2,831 Indians were removed, while India says only 188.
This difference might be because the two countries count deportations in different ways.
Canada also removed people from many other countries, with Mexico having the most removals at 3,972.
In total, Canada removed between 18,785 and 18,969 people from January to October 2025.
Canada reported 2,831 Indian nationals were removed from January to October 2025.
India's Ministry of External Affairs reported only 188 Indian nationals were deported in the same period.
The discrepancy arises from differences in how the two countries define and track deportations.
Mexico had the highest number of removals from Canada, with 3,972 people.
Canada carried out between 18,785 and 18,969 removals across all nationalities during the period.
