Second Kabaddi Player Murdered in Punjab; Bishnoi Gang Claims Responsibility
Two kabaddi players have been killed in Punjab recently.
The first player, Tejpal Singh, was killed about a week ago, and police have arrested two people, possibly due to a personal fight.
The second player, Gurwinder Singh, was killed just days later in a different area.
A criminal group called the Lawrence Bishnoi gang said they were responsible for this second killing.
They even posted a message warning people not to be their enemies.
Sadly, this isn't the first time a kabaddi player has been killed in Punjab; it's happened to 10 players since 2016.
Some people think that gangsters and the illegal drug trade have gotten mixed up with the popular sport of kabaddi in Punjab.
The money involved and the sport's popularity worldwide might be reasons for this connection.
A second kabaddi player, Gurwinder Singh, was murdered in Punjab's Samrala block within a week.
The notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for Gurwinder Singh's killing via a social media post by Anmol Bishnoi.
The gang's social media post also included threats against anyone considered an 'enemy' of the group.
Gurwinder Singh is the 10th kabaddi player to be murdered in Punjab since 2016.
Sources suggest a link between kabaddi, crime, drug mafia, and gangsters in Punjab, with money from the drug trade potentially being invested in the sport.
