ONGC and EIL Partner for Helium Recovery Plant
ONGC, a company that finds and processes oil and gas, is working with Engineers India Limited (EIL) to build a special plant.
This plant will pull helium, a valuable gas, out of the natural gas in Tamil Nadu.
The project is based on technology created by CSIR-IIP.
It will cost about 39.42 crore rupees and should be done in a year and a half.
The plant will make very pure helium, and is important because India currently imports helium.
This helps India become more independent and helps with advancements in technology.
ONGC and EIL signed an agreement for a Helium Recovery Demonstration Plant.
The plant will be at the Kuthalam Gas Collection Station in Tamil Nadu.
The project will implement technology developed by CSIR-IIP.
The plant aims to recover Grade-A helium with 99.995% purity.
The project is valued at Rs 39.42 crore and set to complete in 18 months.
